History

In the late 1950's the closed die brass forging process was becoming a viable technology and George Lofthouse, working as a tool designer in Toronto saw the opportunity for a new business.

In 1957, with money borrowed from the bank, he took the jump and founded the company.

By 1978 the company had reached the stage when it needed to grow. The decision was made to build a second facility and land was purchased in Burks Falls.

In 1985 the company bought the first robotic press in North America. In 1987, it purchased its first transfer machine, and in 1988 its first CNC machine.

Over the years George Lofthouse contributed his time to the community on the Board of Education and as a founding director of the local hospital.

In the late 1980's the company passed on to George's daughters who felt duty bound to see the company grown. In 1991 they recruited Bryant Brown to join the company to work on that mission. In the early nineties the company completed a marketing plan and purchased its first state of the art CNC turning centre.

By 1994 the Burks Falls plant was ISO-9002 certified.

By the summer of 1997 a plan was worked out for the orderly transition of the company from the heirs to the management. To support the growth of the employees, an extensive training program "Learning Our Business", was developed and introduced.
